Our Thanksgiving Tree

I'm a Christmas person. Christmas spirit stays in my soul year-round. When D & I got married-he realized how true that is. He gave me a rule that I couldn't decorate for Christmas or play Christmas music until after Halloween.

Since having children, I've tried to be more intentional about living each day & not wishing my life away. Because of that, we try to make every day a celebration. (Or like my Hubs tells me-everything we do is an event. Ha!! He loves it...really, I tell him he does.) Because of that, I have grown to LOVE Thanksgiving. Especially since I've done the "Thankful Challenge" the past couple of years, it makes me aware of just how many things I have to be thankful for. After doing it daily for almost a month, you get in the habit of looking for things to be thankful for each day.
I've tried a couple of projects to get the boys in on being thankful & they've been a big success. One thing we did was we made a Thanksgiving Tree. This was an idea I found on Pinterest (see my completed pins board for a link).

We made a "naked" felt tree & cut out a bunch of felt leaves in fun Fall colors. All the leaves sit at the base of the trunk & each day we pick a leaf & write one thing we're thankful for on it & place up on one of the branches.

It's really kind-of Jax's tree this year since John isn't talking much. (We tell him what he's thankful for: milk, dinosaurs, popcorn...) But John refuses to be left out! He works on the Thanksgiving Tree often!

John's arms are overflowing with blessings!
