MDO Egg Hunt

Today was Jax's Easter Egg Hunt & Mother's Day Out. His Daddy said he was too big to take his bunny basket to hunt eggs at school. (insert SAD face! He will be using his bunny basket for our family hunts!) He looks so old...I want to put a sign up & tell everyone...HE'S JUST THREE!!!

Jax had no problem picking out a new basket/hat...he knew right away that the (hideous, ahem) Yoda basket was the one for him! Here he is modeling his basket...

Haha! I love my silly boy!

Here he is hunting eggs.

It was a good hunt!

We made fun oreo treats for his school friends.
Inspiration came from one of my favorite blogs: Little Pumpkin Grace

She used it as a Valentine's Day treat-which is ADORABLE, (& I might have to do for John when he gets older) but I was in love with the idea & wanted to use it NOW! Plus, I know myself & I would find something different for Jax by the time next Valentine's Day rolls around.

Finally, I wanted some cute treats for Jax to take his teachers, so we made these Bunny Bouquets.

This was a fun Pinterest idea.

How to Catch a Leprechaun

Jax's MDO class had an assignment to make a Leprechaun Trap for their fun St. Patrick's Day celebration at school. He also brought some Shamrock Shutter Shades (I love alliteration!!) for his friends & an irish hat full of "gold" for his teachers.

Here's a fun video of how Jax's Leprechaun trap works! (Sorry, I didn't turn my phone the right way while recording...I know, rookie mistake!) Also, if you turn it up to hear Jax, be warned, my voice is loud!

I Need Thee Every Hour

Needless to say, (if you read my last post) it has been a tough week for some friends & for us as their church family.

God has kept them in the forefront of my mind since Sunday.

One of my favorite old hymns has also been playing in my head non-stop.
"I need Thee; Oh, I need Thee.
Every hour I need Thee.
Oh bless me now my Savior.
I come to Thee."

So that has led my prayers for this family. I don't begin to know the kind if grief they feel now, but in my own experiences with grief, I ride the emotional roller coaster of "I'm going to be ok" mixed with gut-wrenching, not-"ok" sobbing on the floor.
I've been praying for God to bless this family with a fresh outpouring of peace & comfort every hour.

Up All Night

Tonight is at least the 5th night in a row that my poor teething baby has kept me up. I was a little sniffly at the beginning of the week & that has turned into a full-fledged cold due to lack of sleep.

Tonight, as John couldn't stay asleep for even an hour it seemed, I was coughing my head off & haven't been able to breathe through my nose for days. I felt as if I was at the end of my rope & had nothing left to give. For real.

The last time he woke us up was around 5:15-5:30. He had a fever. D & I were attempting to give him medicine & he was fighting us. As we were doing this, D's phone rang.

When you're in the ministry & you get a call in the wee hours of the night/morning, it's usually bad news. Yup. One of our sweet friend's baby stopped breathing in the night.

Lord God, be with this precious family. Give them an outpouring of peace & comfort. Forgive me for thinking I'm having such a hard time. I thank you for my teething baby who keeps me up. Help me to never take my time with my family for granted. You are the Alpha & Omega, God. Help us to trust You.

Fun Things

Have I ever mentioned that Thursdays are my favorite? They so are! Thursdays are typically filled with: a half-day at work, a Target run, an iced mocha :), an easy afternoon with John, dinner with friends (I don't have to cook!), & it sparkles with promise of the weekend! I count Friday as a weekend day.

This post is super-random, but that is pretty fitting for my blog. As I look through old posts I think about how I started this to keep a sort of scrapbook of my family, but it's kinda morphed into so much more. I've totally been using it like a diary! I guess the writer in me just couldn't help it. This post just adds to the quirkiness of my blog.

I follow all kinds of blogs, from real-life friends, to beauty blogs, to strangers who blog about their day-to-day life & I talk to Dustie about them as if they were my real friends! So if you're nosey like I, & really do care to know about someone-even what they buy, this post is right up your alley! :D

I am SO ready for Spring I can taste it! You can tell in my latest purchases. I've been stocking up on pretty bright & pastel nail polishes lately. Just getting one or two when I grocery shop. (Plus, nail polish always "fits"! Can I get an, "Amen!"??!!) I amassed this new collection while on the hunt for the coveted Essie color: Mint Candy Apple. I finally found it today! I'm trying to match a new cardigan. In my head it was the perfect shade...until someone compared it to Tiffany Blue. Seeing it in the picture brings out even more of the blue hue. In-person, they look more similar. So, while I was looking for the Essie section, I found Revlon Jaded, which really might be the perfect matching shade! The two bottles with the big white tops are by the brand Flower. I've never heard of it, but I loved the shades (I've been looking for a pastel coral color), so I want to try them. I'll do reviews once I've tried them.

So what color am I wearing now??? Nothing! Ha!! I haven't found a long enough window of time to not need my hands! Oh, the life of a Mommy.

For those of you who are still reading, ;) the other colors are:
Loreal: Royalty Reinvented (darker lavender)
Essie: Mod Square (dark pink)
Flower: Gorgeous Gerbera (the pastel creamy coral)
Flower: I Lavendare You! (Light lavender)

A couple of other fun purchases: a pearl bracelet with a monogrammed charm & a high-low skirt (mullet skirt as the Hubs would say).

I had an Origami Owl jewelry party two weeks ago & fell in love! I have the best friends & my party did so well that I was able to get two necklaces & a load of charms. This one is the one I wear w/ casual stuff. I'll show y'all the locket one later.

Finally, did y'all get James Avery's Spring catalog?? I spied some precious stuff!! The Bible charm (I didn't know they had that) & they have a new little church house charm (um...perfect!). I also LOVE the Floral Tracery Ear Hooks (earrings). Just some necessities. Totally kidding, but maybe the Hubs is reading... ;)

Y'all have a Happy Thursday!!

Me

Yesterday my friend texted me the name to a song to listen to. Y'all. Get your kleenex ready.
She wants me & another friend to sing it on Mother's Day so we're going to practice & see if we can even do it without bawling.

This is my new Mommy's Anthem & lullaby for my babies.

It reminds me of how quickly time passes & that I need to stop wishing my hard days away & enjoy every moment I have with my babies.

Here's a link to listen:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVa9uLodTtQ

Here are the lyrics:

Me by Plumb

I haven't had
A chance to sleep
And when I wake
I wake with your dreams
I guess my pillow
Holds some kind of key
To your peace
Your peace

Me
I wouldn't trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
Whenyou need to feel safe
When you need a kiss
It's me

I haven't showered
And I tried to eat
But all your tears
Oh they needed me
I need some time, some time to think
But when I hear you
And what you need is...

Me
I wouldn't trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
Whenyou need to feel safe
When you need a kiss
It's me

I wash your face
To make room for
All the kisses
Of tomorrow
And every day
That I get to
Be here with you
Is sweet

Me
I wouldn't trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
When you need to feel safe
When you need a kiss
It's me

Oh don't be afraid
Cause you'll have is....
Me

Are y'all sniffling yet?!
I'm so thankful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with my babies & allowing me to have those sweet relationships. Without those relationships I don't think I could comprehend how God loves me as my Father. Just think of this song as if the Father was singing it to you.
Wow. He loves me enough to desire a relationship with me. Even when I'm whiny, even when I mess up, even when I'm at my neediest. He wants me to always realize that I need Him.
What a precious Father!
