Know What I'm Sayin?

Have you ever heard God's voice so loudly through different things that you think it may as well be audible?
That's the kind of day I had yesterday.
Everywhere I turned, God was pounding the same message into my heart:
Do not fear.

Let me back up a little bit. Yesterday I started the day running a little behind. I was a few days late on getting my car inspected, so it HAD to be done. Due to that, I was running behind on everything it seemed & I spent the rest of the day playing catch-up & just feeling rushed & unsettled.
To give you a better idea of what it was like: I am the Office Manager for my family's HVAC business. I keep the books, bill people, answer the phone, interact with precious customers (did I mention it's hot outside?), make the schedule, send techs on jobs, deal with insurance companies...oh & I had Jax & John with me. :)
Things quickly went south when I was chasing my children around trying to get them ready for VBS. They were tired, needed a nap (so did I!), & didn't want to get ready, oh, & Air Zone customers didn't know that I had to get my kids ready! They just kept calling! ;)
I'm not even gonna lie, it got a little crazy & there came a point where I honestly felt the need to rebuke Satan.
Not long after, a friend texted & asked if I had read today's devotion in Jesus Calling. I checked it out. (& took a picture)

Awesome. Do not fear. God's peace displaces fear. Guess what? My crazy & uneasy feeling started to fade. (Plus, my kids were trapped in their carseats & starting to fall asleep, & I had an iced coffee.) Within the same hour, my friend texted me the following picture:

Do not fear. The Lord will help me. Finally, we get to church where this verse is the theme for the week:

We shouted this verse over & over in opening assembly, in our 3rd & 4th grade classroom, & then did an activity with the kids where they looked up verses & read them. What did each verse have in common? They all said, "Do not fear."

How sweet is the Father to love on me & reassure me & calm me & surround me with a message that I didn't even know I needed! It was like a soothing balm to my soul.

  1. In a woman's/mom's reality, rather than meaning "afraid" (although that is in there too!), fear translates more often as unsettledness, anxiousness, worry, stress, lonliness, that silly voice that always nags at us that we "aren't doing enough" and more feelings that we want to admit. The same feelings you seem to have been having yesterday. God knew just the right things to say to you. :)

  2. Sis-I read that list & think, "Check, check, yup, uhuh..." He totally knows what we need. I love it!
