#SummerUnplugged

This has been one of the shortest summers I've had!
As the school year came to an end, I was thinking about the summer ahead & really felt the conviction to make the most of our time before school started. Our family really loves technology. Many of our family & friends are long distance, so we love our phones, iPads, & social media. A family hobby is to watch movies together, the guys love the occasional TV show & video game, & the hubby & I can binge-watch a good TV season with the rest of them. While some of these are fine in moderation, a lot of the time they are time-wasters. In order for us to not waste our summer, we needed to be very intentional with how we spent our time. For our family, this meant: limited screen & device time, if we did watch a movie it would be as a family movie night, & basically just doing fun things together that would give us fun & lasting memories.

Because of these crazy notions of mine, our summer got the name:
Summer Unplugged.

So what does #SummerUnplugged look like? Well, it looks like this:

GRADUATION CELEBRATING

Our family had two big graduations to celebrate in May & you better believe we celebrated the mess out of them. I'm so proud of my guys!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATING

I mean, I've already done huge blog posts about these celebrations. What can I say? We like to party *we like, we like to party*!

BRATTY-BRATTING

(Being spoiled. I mean, look, two kids in a candy store!)

I will say that Discovery Channel kind of threw us off having Shark Week so early, but it was still fun. (We may, or may not, have watched Sharknado 2.)

FRONT-PORCH ROCKING / CHECKER PLAYING

STATIONERY DESIGNING

(My talented, super-dee-duper friend created this for our family.)

PRETEND PLAYING

The boys put on numerous plays & reenactments for me.

FAMILY MOVIE WATCHING

CREATING

EARLY CHURCHING

John eating his donut holes & watching cartoons before church one Sunday morning.

JEWELRY MAKING

I got a fun little gig helping a friend make jewelry for her great jewelry business.

Jewelry-making + a good chick flick = a really fun night

DISCO DANCING

The jewelry reflects the sunlight at certain times of the day which the boys thought was fantastic...& called for a dance party. So we danced. Every day.

PAJAMA PARTYING

AT-HOME FAMILY MOVIE NIGHTING

ROUGH-HOUSING

The boys love when my sweet friends keep them (sometimes along with 7 other boys). They have a blast & learn great wrestling moves like the "Smarty-Boy Special."

SINGING & PIANO PLAYING

(At our Maggie Pearl's!)

BOY-MOMMING

[I was dubbed Boy-Momish enough to get the Pink Lantern ring! Folks, this is a big deal. I have arrived! (& it happened to totally match my nail polish at the time!)]

GIRLY-GIRLING

MINION 3-D ING

Yes, again. Because they told their grandparents they didn't get to see it in 3D. So this could also be BRATTY BRATTING!

ADOBO EATING / FILIPINO-ING

Yay for some Mitz cooking!

MOM BAG CARRYING

Seriously, I only use like 5-10% of my purse space for my things. Oh, hello Kevin Tic-Tacs.

DAY DATING / YOGURT EATING

SCHOOL SHOPPING

BABY LOVING

OUTFIT COORDINATING

PRAYER WALKING

(Our church has adopted the middle school. Last Sunday we prayer walked the school & I snuck a few pics. Shhh..)

PLAYDOH SCULPTING

KING JEBING

[The boys made up a game called "King Jeb" where Jeb "tells" them what to do. It consisted of things such as getting Knighted, shackled (by the coat hangers), or thrown into the dungeon. Haha!]

They said this was his scepter.

So I guess the Bumbo is his throne.

I would say Summer Unplugged was a success! We had a fantastic Summer & now we are ready for an equally great Fall.
